What are the school’s strategic aims and objectives which will be monitored by the governors this year?
These are set out in the School Development Plan for the school year 2017 to 2018 and can be summarised as follows:
Effectiveness of leadership and management -for all leaders to be secure in their roles and have accountability for the development of their areas and the impact on standards. All leaders including governors will rigorously monitor the progress against whole school targets.
Quality of teaching learning and assessment – observation, triangulation marking and feedback will show that teaching is consistently good or better.
Outcomes for children and learners – ensure that the proportion of pupils making expected/more than expected progress from their starting points meets or exceeds national expectations of the new curriculum.
Personal development behaviour and welfare – promote outstanding behaviour and attendance of pupils at all times.
Effectiveness of Early Years – to aid transition between EYFS and KS1.
How will we monitor these aims and objectives?
As governors, we have carried out a skills audit and considered the ‘Twenty Questions’, developed a structured monitoring plan linked to the School Development Plan and will carry out monitoring visits in school over the year, reporting back to governing body meetings.
Through the structured monitoring plan and feedback to governing body meetings, as well as discussions with external advisers to the school.
Through the understanding of and consideration of pupil data, lesson observations, book reviews and speaking with both staff and children.
