The current topic is Our Great County! We started looking at buildings we recognised in Lincoln. We needed help to recognise the hospital but we all recognised the Cathedral, Bailgate Post Office and the bandstand in the Arboretum. The building we were most excited about though was Daisy Made Ice Cream! We made our own castle wall like Lincoln Castle (see uploaded photo - castle).
In Maths we have looked at 2D shapes and found objects at home that were circles then counted the rectangular windows . We have also been having fun counting in 2s and using our ten frames (see uploaded photos - all counting, dominoes and playground).
We looked at some ways houses had changed inside. The children then did some fantastic detective work for homework by interviewing parents and grandparents about their own experiences. They did a super job and thank you to the adults too! (see uploaded photo - differences in our childhood).
Different ways of travelling from home to school was one of our book inspirations. The children were amazed at the ways different people around the world travel, then concentrated on creating a pictograph of their own travels (see uploaded photo).
A class vote to decide if we should go to school on Sundays was perhaps a surprise, unless you read our book of the week " A Fine Fine School". We decided not to go to school on the weekend after all! There is too much fun and learning to do at home with our family and friends and we all need a rest (see uploaded photo - A fine school).
We've been learning about the seasons and created actions to a song/rhyme to help us to remember the cycle. We decided autumn was a colourful season. We found red, green, yellow, orange, brown and purple leaves! (see uploaded photo - autumn tree).
