Visit to Christmas Tea Party
Year 1 Visit to a Tea Party
On 13th December, Year One visited St Peter in Eastgate Seniors’ Christmas Tea Party. We had been thinking about the importance of giving as well as receiving, and the class decided to make a card and gift to take to the people there. They were especially concerned that older people might feel lonely and wanted them to feel special and cared for, particularly at Christmas time. We learned many new skills while making our gifts and had lots of fun in the process. We also learned lots of new songs and devised actions to help us remember them.
On the afternoon of the event we were a little nervous, but so excited! We gave our cards and gifts out, then sang our songs and asked everyone to join with us and sing ‘Away in a Manger’ at the end. We loved being able to ‘give to others’. Our teacher was so proud of us. And we thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate biscuit that we were given at the end as well as giving Reverend Marvin a high five as we left to go home!
